What is True Islam?

Seeking An Open, Objective Discussion of Islam

Introduction

Who represents ‘true Islam’, the moderates or the extremists?  When considering this question, we must first realise that there exists much debate over it – inside the Muslim world as well as outside it.  It is still very much a ‘live issue’.  In politically correct Britain, we are very familiar with the state’s official line on Islam – enforced at the bayonet point of litigation, legislation, intimidation and the abolition of freedom. Every day, our socialist government rams the official line down our throats, namely that Islam is a religion of peace, love and tolerance (just don’t criticise it…or else!).  In the interests of being allowed to think for ourselves and examine more than just one side of the argument, let us ask – what about ‘other opinions’ of Islam?  To begin pondering this matter, this booklet will draw extensively upon reported quotations of Islam’s own writings.  Taken at face value, many readers believe that the Koran lacks context and chronology (in the commonly accepted sense of those terms), therefore – when seeking to understand either it or Muhammad, we are largely dependent upon other Islamic writings, eg. the Hadith.  All citations or quotations of Muslims and / or Islamic literature in this booklet are ‘reported’ citations and quotations.

Paedophilia and Islam

Do some Muslims practice ‘paedophilia’ under the guise of religion?  Many believe that the answer to this question is – yes.  On 19th June 2008, Dr. Ahmad Al-Mub’i, a Saudi Arabian Marriage Officiant, was interviewed on TV.  He was quoted on Youtube as saying that Muslims are permitted to marry a little girl, even at the age of one – on the condition that sex is postponed until age 9 (following the example of Muhammad himself who took a child bride at age 6 but didn’t consummate the marriage until she was age 9).  Dr. Al-Mub’i even said that there was “no minimal age for entering marriage”.  In the west, many people refer to this as ‘grooming’ and ‘paedophilia’.  If Muslim extremists are successful and Europe ends up being run like Saudi Arabia, this could happen – with the alleged full protection and legitimacy of ‘religion’ and / or ‘sacred texts’.  In 2005, Muslim woman and Bahraini Women’s Rights activist, Ghada Jamshir, was interviewed on Al-Arabiya TV.  She was quoted on Youtube as saying that Islamic women have no protection from their own state, the Sharia court system or their own marriages.  Concerning ‘mut’ah marriage’ (i.e. ‘a temporary marriage for the purposes of pleasure’ – more about that later), she was quoted as saying that Sharia classifications permit a man to have ‘pleasure with a little girl’ who is 2, 3 or 4 years old.  To the displeasure of the show’s host, Ghada Jamshir related that the Muslim man is given the right to ‘sexual pleasure’ from the little girl’s ‘thighs’, ‘sexual touching’ and ‘breasts’.  If this is an example of sharia law, do you want it governing Britain?

Rape and Islam

Under Islamic law, rape can only be proven if the rapist confesses or if there are four men willing to be witnesses.  When a woman alleges rape, without the benefit of being witnessed by four men, she is (according to Islamic law) actually confessing to committing adultery (if the man who raped her was not her husband).  Sura (2:282), (24:4) and (24:13) may enlighten us on this.  In such a system, the entire burden of proof is on the female rape victim.  In various Muslims countries, rape victims have even been executed for adultery.

Wife Beating and Islam

It is widely understood that, according to Islamic law, a man can beat his wife……only if she doesn’t do as she’s told.  We are assured however that the husband must stop beating her once she complies with his demands.  Muhammad himself is actually recorded in some Islamic literature as physically striking his favourite wife (from her own testimony).

Sura (4:34) – ” the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them…”

Bukhari (72:715) – A woman came to Muhammad and begged him to stop her husband from beating her.  Her skin was badly bruised.  Muhammad did not admonish her husband, but instead ordered her to return to him and submit to his sexual desires.

Muslim (4:2127) – Muhammad struck his favourite wife, the child bride Aisha, when she left the house without his permission. Aisha says, “He struck me on the chest…caused me pain.”

Ishaq 969 – Commands that a married woman be “put in a separate room and beaten lightly” if she ‘acts in a sexual manner toward others’.  Some interpretations understand this to include ‘offences’ like a woman being alone with a man to whom she is not related.

Abu Dawud (2141) – “when ‘Umar came to the Apostle of Allah…and said: Women have become emboldened towards their husbands, he…gave permission to beat them.”

The message that many Muslims take from reading sacred texts like those alluded to above is that if wife beating was good enough for Muhammad, then it is good enough for them.

Polygamy and Islam

It is said that Muhammad married at least 11 times in less than 20 years (despite Muslim men only being allowed to have a maximum of 4 wives).  His successors were also allowed more than 4 wives.  In addition to marrying four women, it is understood that Muslim men can also have sexual relations with an unspecified number of slaves as well.   The following information is taken from Islam’s own literature, see also Bukhari (5:268) and (62:6):

Sura (4:3) – “Marry of the women…two or three or four; and if ye fear that ye cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only) or (the captives) that your right hands possess.”  Bukhari (62:2) is the same as Sura (4:3).  See also Sura (4:24) and Sura (33:52).

Sura (4:129) – “Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire”  So, is he saying that female inequality is inevitable?  What hope does that give to women living in a strict Islamic society?

Sura (66:5) – “Maybe, his Lord, if he divorce you, will give him in your place wives better than you, submissive, faithful, obedient, penitent, adorers, fasters…”  Many take this to teach that a disobedient wife can be replaced.  Whilst a man can only have up to 4 wives, it is understood that he can rotate as many women as he pleases in and out of the line-up.

Nine of Muhammad’s wives outlived him.  The jealousies and bickering in this unhappy arrangement are chronicled not only in the Hadith, but in the Koran as well.  At one point, his wives were believed to be so upset by Muhammad’s taking a slave girl to one of their bedrooms that Allah had to whisper part of Sura 33 in his ear.  This piece of Islamic scripture is understood by some researchers to include a threat to divorce them all if they didn’t allow him complete sexual freedom.  If this is so, then it is shocking to see such high value placed on one man’s sex drive to the point where he is permitted to bring other women into his marriage bed simply in order to satisfy his lust – all in the name of religion?  It seems to devalue a woman’s worth.  Needless to say, women are not allowed the same freedom to seek sexual satisfaction from alternate sources.  In Islam, it can seem to so many observers that a woman’s total worth is determined by the sum of her sexual value to her husband.

‘Temporary Marriages’ and Islam

In Islam, there is a practice called Nikah Mut’ah.  It is a fixed-time arrangement between a man and a woman that dissolves once the duration expires – a temporary marriage for the purposes of pleasure.  Many have understood this to be a license for Muslim men to have affairs and engage in prostitution without transgressing the ethical code of their religion.

Sura (4:24) – “And those of whom ye seek content (by marrying them), give unto them their portions as a duty. And there is no sin for you in what ye do by mutual agreement after the duty (hath been done)”

Sura (5:87) – “O you who believe! do not forbid (yourselves) the good things which Allah has made lawful for you and do not exceed the limits; surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits”.  Surprisingly, the context for this verse of the Koran is believed by many to lie within Bukhari 60:139, i.e. a temporary marriage where an article of clothing is traded in exchange for a few days of access to a woman’s body.  By calling this a “good thing”, Muhammad (if that’s what he’s doing) seems to be standing traditional morality on its head.

Muslim (8:3252) – It appears from this text that Muhammad allowed men to use temporary marriage as a sanctioned form of prostitution.  This certainly happened in North Africa.

Islam and the Worth of Women

We’ve all seen TV or newspaper items where – dressed from top to toe in full Islamic garments, perhaps with only their eyes showing – a group of Muslim women sit around discussing how ‘liberated’, ‘equal’, ‘empowered’ and ‘sexy’ they feel.  The temptation to ask the question – ‘are you really?’ – can be very strong (that is, if we are still permitted to do so).  It may be interesting to look at the following information, based on Islam’s own texts:

Inheritance? Sura (4:11) – “The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females”.  See also Sura (4:176).

Court testimony? Sura (2:282) – “And call to witness, from among your men, two witnesses. And if two men be not found then a man and two women”.

Superiority? Sura (2:228) – “and the men are a degree above them (understood to be said in reference to women)”.

Unclean? Sura (5:6) – “And if ye are unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it”.  Should men have to purify themselves following casual contact with a woman?

Subjugation? Sura (24:31) – Women are to lower their gaze around men, so they do not look them in the eye.

Sura (2:223) – “Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will…”  This is understood by many to mean that a man has dominion over his wives’ bodies as he does his own land.  This verse can come across as quite sexual.  There is some dispute however as to whether it is referring to the practice of anal intercourse (see Bukhari 60:51), which it has been historically used to justify.  It is understood that Muhammad issued this revelation after some women complained to him about their husbands demanding anal sex.  If this is what Muhammad meant, then it would appear to contradict what he said in Muslim (8:3365).  If that is so, then which commandment of Muhammad is the correct one?  The following texts also throw some interesting light on the worth of women in Islam:

Bukhari (6:301) – “[Muhammad said], ‘Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?’  They replied in the affirmative.  He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her intelligence.'”

Bukhari (6:301) – continued – “[Muhammad said] ‘Isn’t it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?’ The women replied in the affirmative. He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her religion.'”  This seems to suggest that Allah has made women deficient in the practice of their religion as well as their intelligence, by giving them menstrual cycles.

Bukhari (2:28) – Women comprise the majority of Hell’s occupants.  This is important because the only women in heaven ever mentioned by Muhammad are the virgins who serve the sexual desires of men.  Some believe that Hadith, Kanz al-`ummal 22:10 even seems to suggest that 99% of women will go to Hell.

Bukhari (62:81) – “The Prophet said (that) the stipulations most entitled to be abided by are those with which you are given the right to enjoy the (women’s) private parts (i.e. the stipulations of the marriage contract).”  Is this teaching that the most important thing that a woman brings to a marriage is located between her legs?

Bukhari (62:58) – A woman presents herself in marriage to Muhammad, but he does not find her attractive, so he “donates” her on the spot to another man.

Abu Dawud (2:704) – “…the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) said: When one of you prays without a sutrah, a dog, an ass, a pig, a Jew, a Magian, and a woman cut off his prayer, but it will suffice if they pass in front of him at a distance of over a stone’s throw.”  Are women and Jews a hindrance to prayer?  Are they on the same level as animals?

Ishaq 593 – “From the captives of Hunayn, Allah’s Messenger gave [his son-in-law] Ali a slave girl called Baytab and he gave [future Caliph] Uthman a slave girl called Zaynab and [future Caliph] Umar another.”  Many have deduced from this that Muhammad treated women like party favours, handing out slave girls to his cronies for sex.  Is this correct?

Ishaq 969 – “Men were to lay injunctions (beatings?) on women lightly, for they were prisoners of men and had no control over their persons.”  This same text is also used by some Muslims to justify beating a woman for flirting.

The fourth Caliph (Muhammad’s son-in-law and cousin) said a few years after the prophet’s death that “The entire woman is an evil. And what is worse is that it is a necessary evil.”  One traditional Islamic proverb says: “A woman’s heaven is beneath her husband’s feet.”  The revered Islamic scholar, al-Ghazali, who has been called ‘the greatest Muslim after Muhammad’, quoted from Ibn Warraq, writes that the role of a Muslim woman is to “stay at home and get on with her sewing…not go out often…not be well-informed, nor must she be communicative with her neighbours and only visit them when absolutely necessary; she should take care of her husband…seek to satisfy him in everything… Her sole worry should be her virtue… She should be…ready to satisfy her husband’s sexual needs at any moment.”

A Yemeni cleric was quoted on TV explaining why women are inferior and unable to serve as good witnesses in court: “Women are subject to menstruation, when their endurance and mental capacity for concentration are diminished. When a woman witnesses a killing or an accident, she becomes frightened, moves away…faints…cannot even watch the incident.”

The many opportunities believed to be denied women under Islamic law, from giving equal testimony in court to having the right to exclude other wives from their marital bed, is believed by many to prove that women are worth less than men in Islam.  In some Muslim societies, women can’t marry outside Islam and may be killed by their own families if they do.  Islamic law can also be understood to specify that if a woman is murdered, her family is only owed 50% of the “blood money” that they would have received if she’d been a man.

Sura (4:34) – “Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other…good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them…banish them to beds…scourge them (wife beating?).”  Is this endorsing wife beating?

Islam and The Veil

Almost everyone in the western world is now familiar with the debate that has raged over recent years with regard to the veil.  Some moderate Muslims even insist that the veil is unnecessary.  Even Jack Straw, a Labour cabinet minister, got into lots of trouble when he admitted asking Muslim women to remove their veil.  To help us begin understanding this controversy, it may be of interest to look at some information contained in Islamic texts:

Bukhari (6:321) – Muhammad is asked whether it is right for a young woman to leave her house without a veil.  He replies, “She should cover herself with the veil of her companion.”

Bukhari (60:282) – After Muhammad issued the command (Sura 24:31) for women to cover themselves, the women responded by tearing up sheets to cover their faces.

Abu Dawud (2:641) – The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Allah does not accept the prayer of a woman who has reached puberty unless she wears a veil.

Islamic law (Sharia) clearly requires women to cover themselves.  The degree of covering varies with how seriously a Muslim government interprets this – the Taliban’s Afghanistan required full burqas whilst more moderate governments (eg. Turkey) ban headscarves in public buildings.  The head covering is seen as a symbol of male domination by many Muslim women who have been fighting for years for the right to dress as they please.  For some it can mean the difference between life and death.  As recently as 2007, a Muslim father in Canada beat his 16 year old daughter to death for refusing to wear the hijab.  Some Muslim dentists in Britain won’t even treat a woman who isn’t wearing a headscarf.  In the UK, the veil is becoming popular as a chic Islamic statement of political protest.

Veils and burqas are also becoming more common in Muslim countries with the resurgence of Islamic fundamentalism.  The trend towards an ever more conservative interpretation of Islam is continuing relentlessly.  One example of this is the reported statement of Saudi cleric, Sheikh Muhammad al-Habadan on al-Majd TV.  He is understood to have declared that women who use eye make-up and show both eyes in public look seductive – therefore he was quoted as calling for women to wear a full veil, or niqab, that reveals only one eye.  This cleric’s opinion is very important because he isn’t an irrelevant nut or a fringe figure.  He is understood to be very influential amongst religious Saudis – who in turn have a large influence on the rest of the world thanks to their legendary wealth and oil power.

Islam and Homosexuality

Liberals, the political left and the ‘pink and fluffy’ new right across Europe yield to none in their passion to promote ‘gay rights’ and impose homosexuality upon the nations of the west, whether people agree with it or not.  They have plenty to say about what they mistakenly regard as ‘Christian homophobia’, but are strangely silent when it comes to Islam’s position on gays.  Why are they so reticent?  Islamic law is understood to teach that homosexuality is a vile form of fornication, punishable by death. Consider the following information from Islamic literature:

Sura (7:80-84) – “…ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds…. And we rained down on them”.   Many Muslim scholars throughout the centuries have interpreted this “rain” as ‘stones’, thus meaning that homosexuals should be stoned.  Similar references to this are found in Suras 27 and 29.

Sura (26:165-166) – “…will ye approach males, “And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing”

It is believed by some that these rules don’t apply in paradise, where martyrs for the cause of Allah enjoy an orgy of virgins and “youth” Sura (56:17), which some people believe to be the ‘boys’ referred to in Sura (52:24).  Sura (76:19) bluntly states, “And immortal boys will circulate among them, when you see them you will count them as scattered pearls.”   Does that mean that there will there be homosexuality and paedophilia on demand in the Muslim view of paradise?  Some believe that it does.

Bukhari (72:774): – “The Prophet cursed effeminate men and those women who assume the manners of men, and he said, ‘Turn them out of your houses.’ The Prophet turned out such-and-such man, and ‘Umar turned out such-and-such woman.”

Reliance of the Traveller, p17.2: – “May Allah curse him who does what Lot’s people did.”

It is interesting to note that, when Mehmed conquered Constantinople in 1453, the Muslim general demanded the 14-year-old son of one of the city’s Christian leaders as his sexual concubine (the father and son chose death instead).  Subsequent Ottoman administrators also engaged in homosexuality, often with the boys of conquered populations who could not afford the ‘jizya’ (a poll tax imposed on non-Muslims when their nations were conquered by Islam) in any other way than to relinquish their own children to these agents of Islam.  Despite this, homosexuals have frequently been beheaded, hung and stoned in modern Saudi Arabia and Iran, where Muhammad’s laws are applied most strictly.  Various other Muslim countries also impose the death penalty upon homosexuals.  This is believed to illustrate a moral paradox within Islam concerning homosexuality.  According to Trifkovic:

“Mohammed’s first successor Abu Bakr reportedly had a homosexual burned at the stake. The 4th caliph, Mohammed’s son-in-law Ali, ordered a ‘sodomite’ thrown from the minaret of a mosque. He ordered others to be stoned. One of the earliest and most authoritative commentators on the Koran, Ibn‘Abbas, blended both approaches,a 2-step execution where the sodomite should be thrown from the highest building in the town and then stoned.”

Yet, in the West, some moderate Muslims not only advocate tolerance for homosexuality, but openly engage in it.  On a number of years, London’s ‘Gay Pride’ parade has included a float by ‘Gay Muslims’.  Many western Muslims find it expedient to parrot the same rhetoric as the gay rights and feminist lobbies, seeking to squash opposition to Islam on the grounds of political correctness and ‘minority rights’.  In the UK, Muslims frequently join with social liberals in political alliances, yet there appears to be little effort on the part of their new found socialist ‘best friends’ to address the plight of homosexuals within Islamic countries.

Islam and the Satanic Verses

The phrase ‘Satanic verses’ has frequently resonated across Europe due to the controversy surrounding Salman Rushdie’s book of the same title.  Very few people however know what Rushdie’s thesis was about.  Let us use information from Islamic texts to understand this:

Tabari VI:107: “Satan Cast a False Qur’an Revelation on the Messenger of Allah’s Tongue.”

Sura (22:52) claims: “Never did We send a messenger or a prophet before you, but, when he framed a desire, Satan threw some vanity into his desire: but Allah will cancel anything (vain) that Satan throws in,” A second translation reads: “He recited (the message) Satan proposed. But Allah abolishes that which Satan proposes.” Another claims: “Satan made a suggestion respecting his desire; but Allah annuls that which Satan casts.”  Another says: “whose recitations Satan tampered with, yet Allah abrogates what Satan interpolates; and Allah will confirm His Signs/Revelations: for Allah is all-knowing and wise.”

Ishaq:166: “Then Allah annulled what Satan had cast, and established his verses by telling him that he was like other prophets and messengers.'”

Tabari VI:110: “Thus Allah removed the sorrow from his Messenger, reassured him about that which he had feared, and cancelled the words which Satan had cast on his tongue, that their gods were exalted high-flying cranes (believed to be a reference to ‘goddesses’) whose intercession was accepted with approval. He now revealed, following the mention of ‘Al-Lat, Al-Uzza, and Manat.’ the words: ‘are yours the males and his the females? That indeed is an unfair division! They are but names which you and your fathers have given.’ to the words: ‘to whom he wills and accepts.”  See also Koran 53:21.

Whether it is true or not, the allegation that Satan placed verses in the Koran did not originate with Salman Rushdie.  It is a controversy that classical Muslim scholars and theologians have wrestled with for centuries.  All Rushdie did was take a dry, academic concept from the dusty shelves of an elite class of professional scholars and place it in the popular realm.  Whether an author’s opinions are right or wrong, they don’t deserve to be threatened with death, merely for having the temerity to express them.  In the west, we believe in giving people the freedom to be wrong, as well as the freedom to be right – the freedom to disagree, as well as the freedom to agree.

Islam and Violence

No one will deny that, in Britain, we have violent Muslims and peaceful Muslims.  Such a state of affairs does however give rise to the question – which kind of Muslim represents ‘true Islam’?  Using information from Islam’s own texts, let us consider that question.

Bukhari:V4B52N220 “Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I have been made victorious with terror. The treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand.'”  Terror seems to be stated here as Muhammad’s path whereby he obtained victory.  It also seems to raise the question as to how much money featured, if at all, as one of his motivating factors.

Bukhari:V9B88N174 “I heard the Prophet saying, ‘Islam cannot change!'”  Words like this pose a considerable challenge to those moderate Muslims who, on one hand, want to be truly Muslim, yet on the other hand, wish to be truly western.  Many people may struggle to see how they can logically and authentically accomplish both of these aims?

Bukhari:V7B67N427 “…Prophet said, ‘If I take an oath and later find something else better than that, then I do what is better and expiate my oath.'”  In light of this, many people may begin to question how Islam, or those following it, can be trusted to honour agreements.

In light of this, ‘The Religion of Peace.com Guide to Understanding Islam’ website concludes: “The Koran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers.  Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers, and kill the infidels wherever they may be hiding.  Muslims who do not join the fight are called ‘hypocrites’ and warned that Allah will send them to Hell…These verses are mostly open-ended, meaning that they are not embedded within historical context.  They are part of the eternal, unchanging word of Allah, and just as relevant or subjective as anything else in the Koran.  Unfortunately, there are very few verses of tolerance and peace to abrogate or even balance out the many that call for nonbelievers to be fought and subdued until they…accept humiliation, convert to Islam, or are killed.  This proclivity toward violence and Muhammad’s own war-laden history has resulted in a trail of blood and bodies across world history.”  The reader of this booklet will have to draw their own conclusions.

Author Craig Winn, when researching Islam stated, “I arranged to meet with the terrorists themselves. I asked members of al-Qaeda, Islamic Jihad, al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade, and Hamas why they were killing us. They said, “Islam. We are following Muhammad’s orders”. …Now more curious than ever, I found copies of the five oldest Islamic books and spent two years studying Muhammad and his message. What I found was bone chilling. The depiction of the prophet by the most revered Muslim sources is horrendous. Nearly every page reveals behaviour that is immoral, criminal, and violent. I soon learned just how fortunate we are that most Muslims don’t follow in the footsteps of Muhammad – that most don’t know their prophet, their religion, their scriptures, or their history very well. If they did, and followed Islam, the whole world would be enveloped in war.”

If peaceful, law-abiding British people were allowed to say so openly (and without threat of being sued, physically attacked, shouted down and driven out of their jobs), it wouldn’t be surprising to discover that many people share Craig Winn’s opinion of who exactly (moderates or extremists) represents ‘true Islam’.  It is foolish and presumptuous to listen only to moderates, and ignore the information given above.  The extremists cannot be ignored; they speak for millions of Muslims worldwide and must be taken seriously.

The ‘Tolerant Bit’ of the Koran

Muslim apologists say that the Qur’an is tolerant because, in Sura (5:69), it says: “Those who believe (in the Koran), those who follow the Jewish (Scriptures), and Christians – whoever believes in God and the Last Day, and does right – on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.”  However, an alternative rendering of end of this verse says “whoever believes in Allah…shall not fear or grieve.”  Furthermore, this verse must not be plucked out of context because it is surrounded by all the following verses from Sura 5 which proclaim:

Sura (5:13): “But because of their breach of their covenant we cursed the Jews and made their hearts grow hard. They change words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the message that was sent them. Nor will you cease to find deceit in them.”

Sura (5:14): “From those, too, who call themselves Christians, We made a covenant, but they forgot a good part of the message that was sent them so we estranged them, stirred up enmity and hatred among them.”

Sura (5:17): “Say: ‘Who has the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ, the Messiah and everyone else on the earth?”

Sura (5:37): “The [Christian] disbelievers will long to get out of the Fire, but never will they get out; theirs will be an enduring torture.”

Sura (5:51): “Judge between them by what Allah has revealed and follow not their [Christian] desires, but beware of them lest they beguile you, seducing you away from any of that which Allah has sent down to you. And if they turn you away [from Islam], be assured that for their crime it is Allah’s purpose to smite them.”

Sura (5:57-59): “Believers, take not Jews and Christians for friends.”

Sura (5:68-72): “Say: ‘People of the Book! Do you disapprove of us because we believe in Allah, and the revelation that has come to us?’ Say: ‘Shall I point out to you something much worse than this by the treatment it received from Allah? Those who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath, those Jews He transformed into apes and swine.”

Sura (5:72): “They are surely infidels who blaspheme and say: ‘God is Christ, the Messiah.’ But the Messiah only said: ‘Children of Israel! Worship Allah.’ Lo! Whoever joins other gods with Allah or says He has a partner, Allah has forbidden Paradise…Hell will be his abode.”

Sura (5:73): “They are surely disbelievers who blaspheme and say: ‘God is one of three in the Trinity for there is no ilah (god) except One, Allah. If they desist not from saying this, verily a grievous penalty will befall them.”

It is all very well to quote just one verse out of Sura 5 and then proceed to build an entire Islamic theology upon it; however we must not ignore what is said in the rest of this sura as well.  Using the entirety of Sura 5 for context, it is difficult to understand how westerners can actually read the whole sura and only see as ‘the nice bits’.  How can they just cancel out the rest of it?  One little part of Sura 5 in the Koran hardly guarantees us freedom for all time, especially when read against the backdrop of other Islamic literature.

Islam, Jihad, Infidels and Islamic Expansion

Sura (9:88) “The Messenger and those who believe with him, strive hard and fight with their wealth and lives in Allah’s Cause.”

Sura (9:5) “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, torture them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”

Sura (9:112) “The Believers fight in Allah’s Cause, they slay and are slain, kill and are killed.”

Sura (9:29) “Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.”

Sura 8 says: “Allah has sent you from your homes to fight for the Cause. Allah wished to confirm the truth by his words: wipe the Infidels out to the last. I shall fill the hearts of the Infidels with terror! So smite them on their necks and every joint, and incapacitate them, for they are opposed to Allah and His Apostle. Whoever opposes Us should know that Allah is severe in retribution. The Infidels will taste the torment of Hell. So when you meet them in battle do not retreat, for all who turn away from fighting will bring the wrath of Allah on themselves and their abode will be Hell. It was not you who killed them, but Allah who did so. You did not throw what you threw. Allah did to bring out the best in the faithful.  So, fight them till all opposition ends and Islam is the only religion.  If you meet them in battle, inflict such a defeat as would be a lesson for those who come after them, that they may be warned. Surely the Infidels cannot get away. Prepare against them whatever arms and cavalry you can muster, that you may terrorise the enemies of Allah.”  Is this is how Muslims are commanded to treat ‘the infidel’?

Sura (5:72): “They are surely Infidels who say Christ, the Messiah is God.”

Sura (2:10): “As for those who deny Islam…they shall be the faggots for the Fire of Hell.”

Ishaq:327 “Allah said, ‘A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring….Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion.'”

Bukhari:V5B59N512 “The Prophet had their men killed, their children and woman taken captive.”

Sura (33:26) “Allah made the Jews leave their homes by terrorising them so that you killed some and made many captive. And He made you inherit their lands, their homes, and their wealth. He gave you a country you had not traversed before.”

Consider this reported quote from one of the Saudi ruling family’s favourite imams, al Buraik.  Prior to a telethon hosted to enrich the families of Palestinian suicide bombers, he was quoted as saying: “I am against America. She is the root of all evils and wickedness on earth.  Muslims, don’t take Jews and Christians as allies.  Muslim brothers in Palestine, do not have any mercy or compassion on them, their blood, their money, or their flesh. Their women are yours to take, legitimately.  Allah made them yours.  Why don’t you enslave their women?  Why don’t you wage jihad?  Why don’t you pillage them?”  An official Qur’an, produced for the English speaking market, bears the stamp of the Saudi Arabian Fahd Foundation. Right below Surah (2:190), the Qur’an’s first mention of Jihad, its notes are quoted as saying: “Jihad is holy fighting in Allah’s Cause with full force of numbers and weaponry. It is given the utmost importance in Islam and is one of its pillars. By Jihad, Islam is established, Allah’s Word is made superior, and Islam is propagated. By abandoning Jihad, Islam is destroyed and Muslims fall into an inferior position; their honour is lost, their lands are stolen, their rule and authority vanish. Jihad is an obligatory duty in Islam on every Muslim.  He who tries to escape from this duty, dies with one of the qualities of a hypocrite.”  Unsurprisingly, ‘jihad’ has been called ‘the unofficial 6th pillar of Islam’.

Suicide Bombers: The Foot Soldiers of Jihad

Surah 4 says: “Those who barter their life in this world for the next should fight in the way of Allah; whether he is killed or victorious, a glorious reward awaits…Urge the believers to fight…to keep back the might of the Infidels…Seize them and kill them wherever they are…Muslims who sit idle are not equal to those who fight in Allah’s Cause with their wealth and lives. Allah has exalted those who fight for Islam.”

Ishaq:587: “Our onslaught will not be a weak faltering affair. We shall fight as long as we live. We will fight until you turn to Islam, humbly seeking refuge. We will fight not caring whom we meet. We will fight whether we destroy ancient holdings or newly gotten gains. We have mutilated every opponent. We have driven them violently before us at the command of Allah and Islam. We will fight until our religion is established. And we will plunder them, for they must suffer disgrace.”

Tabari IX:69 “Arabs were the first to respond to the call of the Prophet. We are Allah’s helpers and the viziers of His Messenger. We fight people until they believe in Allah. He who believes in Allah and His Messenger has protected his life and possessions from us. As for one who disbelieves, we will fight him forever in the Cause of Allah. Killing him is a small matter to us.”

Muslim:C20B1N4597 “The Prophet said at the conquest of Mecca: ‘There is no migration now, but only Jihad, fighting for the Cause of Islam. When you are asked to set out on a Jihad expedition, you should readily do so.'”

Bukhari:V4B53N386 “Our Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, ordered us to fight you till you worship Allah alone or pay us the Jizyah tribute tax in submission. Our Prophet has informed us that our Lord says: ‘Whoever amongst us is killed as a martyr shall go to Paradise to lead such a luxurious life as he has never seen, and whoever survives shall become your master.'”

Qur’an 47:4 “When you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah’s Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom them (based upon what benefits Islam?) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam.”

Ishaq:315 “It was so criminal, men could hardly imagine it. Muhammad was ennobled because of the bloody fighting. I swear we shall never lack soldiers nor army leaders. Driving before us infidels until we subdue them with a halter above their noses and a branding iron. We will drive them to the ends of the earth. We will pursue them on horse and on foot. We will never deviate from fighting in our cause. Any people that disobey Muhammad will pay for it. If you do not surrender to Islam, then you will live to regret it. You will be shamed in Hell, forced to wear a garment of molten pitch forever!”

Ishaq:208 “When Allah gave permission to his Apostle to fight, the second Aqaba contained conditions involving war which were not in the first act of submission. Now we bound ourselves to war against all mankind for Allah and His Apostle. He promised us a reward in Paradise for faithful service. We pledged ourselves to war in complete obedience to Muhammad no matter how evil the circumstances.”

Bukhari V4B52N46 “I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, ‘Allah guarantees that He will admit the Muslim fighter into Paradise if he is killed, otherwise He will return him to his home safely with rewards and booty.'”

Islam and Those Who Leave It

Bukhari:V4B52N260: “The Prophet said, ‘If a Muslim discards his religion, kill him.'”

Iranian authorities in Tehran lashed a man on his back in 2007 for having a Bible in his car.  It all happened when the man, driving his vehicle, was involved in a road accident with a car belonging to security guards for a government official in Tehran.  They insisted on inspecting his vehicle and found a Bible.  The security guards confronted him with it and he admitted to being a Christian (he had previously been Muslim – under Iranian law, it is illegal to convert from Islam to Christianity).  Upon which he was beaten up, arrested and given lashes.  Why can’t all Muslims just be free to follow whatever religion they want?

In the UK, Maryam Namazie set up the ‘British Council of Ex-Muslims’.  She was flooded with calls from people who wanted to join but were too intimidated.  Endless phone threats informed her that she will ‘soon be beheaded’.  When she approached our cowardly police force with this information, they weren’t interested. “They have never been very helpful,” she says. “They act as if it’s your fault for ‘provoking’ these people, when in fact the Islamist movement uses threats and intimidation as a tool to silence their critics.”  Those who openly disagree with Islam are either victimised by the police or threatened into silence by politically correct litigators.  36% of British Muslims, ages 18 to 24, have been reported as thinking that those who convert from Islam to another faith should be murdered.  Researchers found that, the younger British Muslims are, the more they believe in death for ‘apostates’.  The ‘Unholy War’ documentary found many cases of ‘apostates’ having cars blown up, children threatened and even being beaten and left for dead – on British streets.

The Ulster Defence League Stands for Freedom !

Either in the open, or behind closed doors, the debate will continue regarding: [1] whether or not Islam is a force for good or a force for evil in the UK; and [2] whether or not moderate Muslims or extreme Muslims represent ‘true Islam’.  Those who express an opinion that is deemed unfavourable towards Islam should not be penalised by politically correct functionaries whose sole aim in life is to intimidate law-abiding British citizens into silence by taking away their freedom.  Islam is an important subject.  Everyone should be able to discuss it openly in an objective, non-threatening atmosphere where all opinions can be heard, scrutinised and investigated without fear of malicious reprisal.  We invite the reader to decide for themselves whether ‘moderates’ or ‘extremists’ represent ‘true Islam’.  The unionist people of Ulster need to realise that militant Islam has always supported and funded IRA / Sinn Fein terrorism.  Islamic extremists are as evil as IRA / Sinn Fein.  Unlike them, the Ulster Defence League are a group of British patriots who believe in the rule of law.  If, like us, you believe that the agenda of Islamic extremists and their friends in IRA / SF should be legally and peacefully opposed – please support the Ulster Defence League.
